Profile Information

My Title:
Assistant Director
My Story:
Was in Information Technology for 35 years until the companies started outsourcing. Concurrent with that, I've run a martial arts school and hold 3 black belts (3rd - Judo, 3rd JuJitsu, 1st Kenpo) and intermediate ranks in Tae Kwon Do, Moo Duk Kwon, Tang So Do, Kyokushinkai, Tong Leong Praying Mantis, Aikido, Kendo. Lastly, I'm a Tai Chi Master as well.

The economy forced me to close my school as my standards are too high, so I had a small student base. I will not exploit people and give Black Belts in 2 years just because it's a way to make easy money. I am not a McDojo or Belt Factory.

Along the way, I had the opportunity to work with a couple of directors and enjoyed the film making experience. I did not consider making it a career, until recently.

I took the FITP 2009 course at Middlesex in the AD track and feel it's the best investment I've ever made. The instructor (1st AD Louis Guerra) is currently the Chair of the East Coast Director's Guild of America. He's an awesome teacher and I found the experience invaluable.

Now, I'm addicted.

I'm looking forward to delving deeper into the area of training I have chosen with hopes of bringing all of my other areas of expertise to the industry.

Hi Stephen,
Just got a job as a 1st AD on a short (no pay, just for exp) and was wondering if I could pick your brain sometime on your experience AD'ing. Would love to talk to you sometime.

Thanks Rafael.

Thanks Lucky,

I enjoyed making the site. It was a lot easier when everyone's monitors were more or less the same, small. My new site is taking forever, no flash, just a step above stone carving with handmade tools.
