My Title:
WRITER. DIRECTOR. ACTOR.

My Story:
BIO
"Joel Vetsch was born & raised in the small town of Colstrip, Montana, relocating to Connecticut in 2008. After watching 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' at the age of 12, he decided he wanted to make movies. Eighteen years later, Joel has established a diverse resume in film with acting, directing, and writing credits to his name; his work has been broadcast on CNN and on television overseas. His recent credits include the short films 'Elm City Pulp' (writer, director, lead actor) and 'Hold On' (director, cinematographer). He is currently appearing in the web series 'The Oligrach Duplicity' and recently starred in 'Kharon's Fare', a short that aired on WNET as part of its Reel 13 series. Joel's latest film as director and lead actor is the short 'A Man Alone'; upcoming projects include directing and starring in the dramatic film 'Thoughts of a Professional Man' and an as-yet-untitled zombie comedy. His website is www.joelvetsch.com"

FROM JOEL
"I have been acting, directing, and writing since I was 12 years old. I've appeared on CNN multiple times, directed a documentary film that has been televised in Europe on TV, and most recently a short film I starred in was broadcast on TV across the east coast out of NY on Channel 13. Besides filmmaking, in my spare time I draw, play the guitar, read, and like to travel.
I started to become interested in film as a medium and direction for my life at age 12, when I first saw Raiders of the Lost Ark. That film changed me forever. It sparked an insatiable appetite for films of all genres, types, domestic or foreign, black and white or color.
There I was at 12 years old, with a video camera, acting and directing my own westerns and adventure movies.
I made one short film called "Indiana Jones and the Mummy's Curse", and my brother Josh played the mummy in the tomb (which was a root cellar). My brother was all decked out in old cloth, and waiting inside. We had rigged a wooden door that would open at the touch of a "button", with someone standing up on top, moving the "door" at the right moment. Another film was called "Jesse's End", a western where I got shot down in a gun fight after robbing three banks. We lived out in the country at that time, so we used some of the long deserted old homestead cabins as the locations for the banks and sheriff's office.
I have intensified my interest in filmmaking, and today it is what I spend my time concentrating on. I have been fortunate enough to star in some great films, do things with CNN, and work with great people in Connecticut, New York and Montana."

Months ago playwright Orna Rawls asked me if I would like to direct a play for the Quickies in the Park show. She had just seen a short film I had directed, "Hold On". I was immediately interested, and excited about trying out my directing in a stage production for the first time. As my bio for the program stated, I have had years of experience in film, but none in theater, besides the lone time I acted in a play (written by Orna Rawls, and directed by J. Sibley Law) last winter. This play, I found out was entitled "Shakespeare for the Shakespeare Challenged", and was a comedy written by local playwright Jack Rushen. I cast two actors who I have known and worked with before, the brilliant David Thomas McLaine and Mike Greca. I knew they would both be hysterical, and have great chemistry on stage. And lo and behold, to no great surprise by me, they did! This was a great learning experience for me as a director, and I was absolutely pleased with their performance in front of the audience of 150 that night!! I look forward to directing a play again!

I watched your video HOLD ON I was impressed with the black and white photography. There are few today who know how to use the artistry of black and white. The writer Erica Lee did a fine job as the dialogue is true to the life situation the film portrays. Good Luck with this and your future projects.
