To locate local (CT) film audition opportunities online, I utilize CT Film Space, Our Film Space, New England Film, and Craigslist. What does everyone else use?
The following is a list of web site that can be used for “prospecting” in respect to acting jobs. Some are “social” sites for networking, like this one Our Film Space.com, some are for being “listed” and some for searching out jobs. So, with that, here goes.
>Actors Access, you can list on this one and receive free emailings of job postings.
Ø Studio1Casting, you can list here for work.
Ø Now Casting, you can list here and it gets you listed on “The Actors Directory” a 70 year old listing of all actors, and if you are SAG, you can get into their yearly publication which is distributed to studios, directors, etc.
Ø NewEnglandFilm.com, listing available in the jobs section.
Ø Craig’s list, both Boston and RI, check out both “TV/Film/Video” as well as “Talent” in the “Gigs” section.
Ø Hollywoodeasttv.com
Ø Beaneywood, can get listed here.
Ø Rhodywood, good RI resource
Ø Bollywood, international listing.
Ø Connecticut Film Space
Ø CP Casting, not only a free email notification service on opportunities, but a great links page.
Ø Boston Casting, listing and email notices.
Ø New England Actors, good spot to be listed on, people have been hired off this site.
Ø RI Film Network
Ø Showbiz Weekly, free web notification through email, limited, expanded with subscription.
Ø RI Film Commission, email notices and press releases on work coming up in RI
Ø The Actors Checklist, Directory of TV and Film Studios and Network Broadcasters. www.actorschecklist.com/resources/studiobroadcasters.html.
Ø And…..a list of Casting Directors, out of NY can be found at,
Ø www.actorspages.org/castingdirector.php.
Ø
Ø Use them as you like, but with regularly working at it, these are some resources that can help you live your dream.
Be careful with Craigslist. Anyone can put anything on Craigslist. Did you hear about the girl that was murdered this year when she took a baby-siting job listed on Craigslist? Craigslist has ALOT of scams or calls that you really wouldn't want to do. I'll save you the details but I went to a casting call last month. I didn't stay long because I forgot to bring my body guards with me. I have had more than enough of thos and now I have figured out how to weed out the good ones from the bad, for the most part. You even have to watch out for casting companies. What I do is enter the company name or person posting the call and then SCAM into google. Discussions will come up regarding the party in question. At times everyone is unanimous regarding the party in question and at other times there is a debate. If you are unsure then be safe.
